Ralphie

Ralphies Kitchen Adventure.

Ralphie is a four year old boy, who’s like a lot of other boys, lives in a town like a lot of other towns. He is very sweet and generally does not get into trouble, except for this day.

One afternoon Ralphie’s mother was on the phone talking with his grandma. He felt a rumbling in his tummy.  He knew just what that meant. His tummy needed food, he went to ask his mother for food.

“Mommy, I’m hungry. Can I have a cookie?” Ralphie said interrupting his mom.

“Ralphie, I am on the phone. If you are quiet until I am off the phone, them I’ll get you a cookie.”  His Mother replied cupping her hand over the phone.

“Nooooo” thought Ralphie, “Mommy can talk with grandma for ever.”

Ralphie waited for a few minutes quietly as his mother had instructed him to do. However Ralphie is like most other four year old boys. He can only wait for so long. Ralphie decided it would be best to leave mommy alone to her phone call with Grandma.

He walked slowly to the kitchen and just before entering in, he turned looking back at him his mother. Yes, she was still on the phone.

He moved quickly to the fridge and the flung the door open.  He looked and couldn’t find a single cookie anywhere. He did find something else he liked, milk. And milk goes great with cookies.  He stretched and grabbed the milk jug. He gave it a good hard tug and the milk fell out onto the hard floor. The milk lid was knocked off and milk spilled out everywhere.

“Now all I need is a cup,” thought Ralphie.  He looked up at the cupboards, but those were too high up, he couldn’t reach.  So he looked around, and he saw the doggie bowl.

“Oh boy I’ll use that,” Ralphie said to himself.  He picked up the milk jug and set it up right.  There was still about half of the jug left.  He went and grabbed the dog food bowl and dumped out the dog food into the spilled milk.  He then set the bowl down next to the jug and tipped over the milk into the bowl.

SPLASH!!! Milk drenched the floor mixing with the dog food he had just dumped out. What a mess he made. Spilled milk mixed with dog food all over the floor.

“Now where are those cookies?” he concentrated.  Putting one hand across his chest and one on his chin, like his mother did when she was trying to remember where the car keys were, he thought and thought.

“A JAR!!” He remembered. He once saw his mother take the cookies from a jar on the counter.  Now all he needed to do was find a way to get on the counter .  He looked for something to stand on.  So he opened the bottom cupboard doors and all he saw was pipes and a bucket.

He took the bucket set it upside down creating a step stool. Now that he was taller, he was able to crawl up to the top of the counter by pulling himself up with his arms and pushing with his legs.

On the other side of the sink were three glass jars, a small, medium and large size jar.  Ralphie carefully crawled toward the jars.  He moved slowly across the counter top so he wouldn’t fall.  He crossed the the sink by going in and out. While moving in and out of the sink, he bumped the dishwashing soap and knocked it to the floor.

The dish washing soap hit the ground and spilled out everywhere. What a mess he had made.  Spilled milk mixed in with dog food and dish washing soap.

He finally came to the three jars.  Rushing he took the small jar and yanked off the top, but there were no cookies in that jar, only sugar. He placed the jar to the side and reached for the medium sized jar.

As he reached he smacked into the sugar knocking it to its side and spilling the sugar all over the counter and onto the floor. What a mess he had made. Spilled milk mixed with dog food, dishwashing soap and now sugar.

Ralphie moved along forgetting his mess, he came to the second jar. This jar was not easy to open. He pulled the top and yanked at it until finally it flung off the jar. It flew right out of Ralphies hand through the air onto the floor smashing into a million pieces. What a mess he had made. Spilled milk mixed with dog food, dishwashing soap, sugar, and now there was broken glass.

The medium sized jar only had flour inside of it.  Ralphie was disappointed, and as he set the set the jar aside it fell to the ground smashing into a billion pieces and sending a cloud of flower covering everything in the room, even Ralphie. What a mess he had made.  spilled milk mixed with dog food, dishwashing soap, sugar, broken glass, and now flour was covering every other inch of the kitchen.

Ralphie shrugged his shoulders and moved onto the large jar, it was his last chance to find the cookies. He took hold of the lid and pulled straight up, the lid was not real tight and it came right off.  Once the lid was removed it revealed a great glorious sight, a wide variety of cookies. A large smile ran from ear to ear across his face, as reached into the jar to grab a cookie.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Ralphies mother screamed in utter shock and horror as the kitchen door swung open.  “Ralphie! What a mess you have made,” she cried gasping for air.

“Want a cookie?.” Ralphie asked as if he did nothing wrong.

“No I don’t want a cookie,” she said pulling him off of the counter. “Now get in the bathroom and wait for me.”  Ralphie new he was in trouble now, and began sobbing as he walked into the bathroom.

Ralphies mother put him in the bath and cleaned him up.  Then she punished him by making him help her clean up the kitchen.

Ralphie never got his cookie.

The End
