Sometimes reading your own words is kind of boring. You already know the end. I Did a re-write on the 1500 words I wrote for a competition. I was almost bored in a way reading it for the first time, I also felt that the humor in it could be seen for miles. So I fixed it up. I changed a lot, in it. I totally re did the main character. In the original, he was this older guy, who was ultra dependable. I wanted to sell his past but couldn't quite convey what I wanted in only 1500 words. What I ended up doing was essentially writing about the man's past. It brought a few different emotional levels and it helped create a good flow. So the end result wasn't the old dependable guy. Rather, it is a man who is learning to become more dependable and responsible. So I went from boring to, not so much.
Now all I have to do, is go through it with a fine tooth comb, and correct my grammar errors. I'm just going to say it now, and I'm sure I will again...I hate grammar checking. That is truly the most boring element in writing. Oh and I still need to do a lot of that on my book....yeah.
